my weekend

Soooo....I spent a week sick, then a week with a lovely but distracting houseguest, then a week sick...so you can imagine the state of my house. Keep this in mind.
Got to BU campus on Friday at 10:30, having turned the wrong way after exiting the T. I always get turned around coming back up from the subway..it's worst going into Porter actually, where inbound trains seem to go the wrong way....anyhow.
It took about five minutes in physics before everybody involved realized I'd been admitted to the wrong program. Space physics at BU is in ASTRONOMY, not physics. Ooops. Talked to a few people in physics and then scuttled over to astronomy after having lunch with them. The beauty of it is, the research opportunities in astronomy have me INCREDIBLY excited. It's a great program and honestly I'd rather be there than Tufts or MIT. Oh...and despite missing the physics open house weekend, I was there for astronomy open house weekend. Nice accident.
Long and short of it, the chair of astronomy is bending over backwards to find me funding for my studies this fall. Worse come to worse, I spend a year in the physics program, apply to astronomy and start there fall of 04. In that case I lose a year, but probably will be able to pass my comps a year early.
So follow this on Friday with some great hang-out time on Saturday on Sunday. Sunday night fly back. Northworst bumps the flight by 2 hours, making me miss my connection, so I go to midwest, where I get searched TWICE before boarding, once involving serious public groping of my crotch because clearly my jeans snap is a dangerous weapon. At least Midwest had VERY comfy seats and I didn't even get to GR late.
So I get home tonight after work to find an exploded water heater. Gas and water are turned off and it took me three hours to mop up the floor, during which time I had to buy a new mop (amy took the old, apparently) and a sixpack since clearly this job required more beer than I had in the house. My landlord rocks though--he's getting a new one in tomorrow.
Yeesh. Living room's a mess....but I got five boxes of anime wuv, so time to open those.
